A safe temporary home

Families in extremely vulnerable situations can find a safe and comfortable temporary home in the specially designed, homely wards.

The wards at Mary Elizabeth's Hospital are designed to continue everyday life with space for shared meals, play, homework and bedtime stories.

Mary Elizabeths Hospital will have 179 single rooms averaging 27 m², each with its own toilet and shower. For children and young people who are too ill to get out of bed or are in isolation, the days can feel long and difficult. That's why the rooms have space for a parent to be close by, and for siblings, grandparents and friends to feel welcome and at home in a safe environment.

Flexible and innovative interior design

In addition to being a social space, the room must be designed to allow staff to treat the patient. Therefore, a very flexible layout is needed so that the room can be transformed into a state-of-the-art treatment room in a short time.
