A Home for Life

Families in extremely vulnerable situations can find a safe and comfortable temporary home in the specially designed, homely wards

The wards at Mary Elizabeth's Hospital are designed to continue everyday life with space for shared meals, play, homework and bedtime stories. Through a room sponsorship, you support the development of specially designed rooms for life at the children’s hospital.

Mary Elizabeth’s Hospital will have 179 single rooms, each averaging 27 m² and equipped with a private bathroom. These rooms will be where hospitalized children, teens, and pregnant women spend much of their time. For those who are too ill to leave their bed or who are in isolation, the days can feel long and difficult. For this reason, the rooms are designed to allow a parent to stay close, while siblings, grandparents, and friends can feel welcome and at home in a safe and comforting environment.

Flexible and innovative interior design

In addition to being a social space, the room must be designed to accommodate the staff while treating the patient. This requires a highly flexible layout, allowing the room to be converted into a state-of-the-art treatment area at short notice.
