A Journey Through the Building
Milestones is a performative sculpture that unfolds from the top floor all the way down to the foyer. Users activate the sculpture by releasing a “milestone,” a heavy, elliptical brass ball.
When Mary Elizabeth’s Hospital opens, brass balls will roll down seven floors through the hospital’s open stairwell and land in a beautiful ball pit in the foyer
Every day, a patient, a family member, or a staff member reaches a milestone that leaves a lasting impression. It might be the moment they leave the hospital or the moment they welcome a child. Recognizing these moments and small achievements brings comfort and encouragement to us all.

When we share our experiences and receive acknowledgment from others, we experience mutual joy, hope, and empathy. Marking the many milestones reached each day can foster a sense of community around shared experiences and celebrate life’s moments in a playful, sensitive, and personal way.
