Mary's magical rooftop gardens

At Mary Elizabeth's Hospital, nature plays an important role in creating a more humane hospital. The vision of the rooftop gardens is to bring healing nature to the most vulnerable children and their families

Healing nature

Mary's magical rooftop gardens will bring nature closer to isolated children. Even the bone marrow transplant patients who are currently isolated in their wards for months at a time. The rooftop gardens will bring healing nature to the most vulnerable children, their families and the staff at MARYS.

The rooftop garden on the 5th floor is located directly adjacent to the Bone Marrow Transplant Department. Here, children with severe cancer are kept in isolation with their parents. The rooftop garden on the 3rd floor is connected to two staff rooms near the pediatric intensive care and neonatal ward. Here, doctors and nurses make difficult decisions every day with fragile little lives in their hands.
The opportunity to step outside and take a breath during a short break will therefore be life-giving for both the staff and the hospitalized families in the unit.

The result of a strong partnership

Through a partnership with the Foundation for Mary Elizabeth's Hospital, idverde Denmark, Juul Frost Arkitekter and Malmos Landskaber, we have been able to take an important step towards realizing the dream of the pioneering rooftop gardens at Mary Elizabeth's Hospital.

The rooftop gardens are financed in collaboration with ROCKWOOL.
